Page Four The Caromount News JANUARY, 1952 *1 Atlas Lindsey, Dyehouse Opera tor, has been at Caromount since 1945. He is a native of Nash County and has lived in the Cooper’s Township area all of his life. He is the youngest son of the late Dan and Eveline Eason Lind sey. He has five sisters and six brothers. Atlas’ brother, Hubert, is employed in the Dyehouse also. Atlas was educated at the Coop ers Graded School and worked on the farm until he was twenty years of age. It was then that he came to work at Caromount as a helper in the Dyehouse. He has; been in that department ever since. In June, 1947, he was married to Miss Jeanette Van Hook of Nash County. They have three children: Troy, age four; Zanda, who will soon be three years of age; and a baby boy, Rudie, who is two. Like most of our people. Atlas likes to hunt and fish. He is par ticularly interested in squirrel hunting but since his wife works, he spends most of his off duty hours baby sitting. The Lindseys live at Route 3, Nashville, and are affiliated with the Sandy Cross Methodist Church. Third Shift Party The third shift had a Christmas party in the canteen. The foreman and fixers received their gifts, and then the women had their party. They also gave Mrs. Thelma Ea son a linen shower. She has just moved into a neW home at Little Easonburg. Mrs. Louise Ezzelle (Cafeteria) got the surprise of her life when she received a gift of $17.00 from the third shift at Christmas. Weaveshed Events Florida Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Davis spent part of their vacation with friends in Florida. New Chevrolet Raymond and Topsey Eason have a new Chevrolet. Soutli Carolina Rachel and James Hollings worth spent a few days in South Carolina with friends. Holiday Party Rachel and James Hollings worth gave a Holiday party for the third shift on the 31st of Dec ember at the Caromount Field House; and everybody had a won derful time. New Car Jack Thomas sold his old Model “A”. The very same day, he bought an Oldsmobile. He started to work that night and of all things the Oldsmobile pegged out on him and he had to call a taxi to take him to work. New Ford Jiggs Long has a new Ford. Home On Furlough Charles Worrell, brother of Mrs. Louise Rose, spent most of his fur lough visiting Louise. He is in the Navy and is stationed at San Die go, Calif. Charles also went to the third shift Christmas party, and said he had a very nice time. T^iree Eskiinoes We know three fellows who can qualify as , Eskiinoes. Remember Sunday, January 6,^ the day of the pretty snow?'?-Well, these three fellows went down below Bath fishing in North Creek. They caught one bass at that, but they just about froze to death. Who were the three? Coy Frye, Hubert Sutton and “Gus” Riley. We heard one of the three remark, ‘ Never no more!” We agree with this one hundred per cent. New Car Owen Solmon is now sporting his second Studebaker in ' about two months. He had tough luck with his first one and wrecked it. Hunting Nolie Robinson, Hubert Sutton and Owen Solmon went bird hunt ing near Wilmington last week. They did not have much luck. Out Sick There h^e been many on the sick list this past month, mostly due to colds. It has been a good season for them. Among those out sick were the following: Mrs. Cora Layton, Mrs. Maggie Powell, Mrs. Mabel Morris, Mrs. Mattie Draughn, Jake Jones, Mrs. Flor ence Ezzell, Miss Geneva Baker, Mrs. Leona W. Barnes, W. T. Lay- ton. Miss Maud Collins, Durell Fred Simmons Kills Deer Fred F. Simmons (Weaving Depaitment) is the second Caro- niount man to report the killing of a deer tliis season. Fred shot this one near Leggetts, North Carolina. The buck weighed 161 pounds. In the picture to the left is “Red” Spruill, a member of the hunting party. Needy Family Gets Christmas Cheer The fellows in the Machine Shop and Stoi'eroom played Santa Claus to one of Roclty Mount’s needy families. A large family suggested by the prtncipal of Williford School was made happy by their generosity. Clothing, shoes, and groceries were con- tributed. A part of the contribution is shown above. Stancil, Raleigh Evans, Maryland Brantley, Mrs. Agnes La,ngley, Mrs. Lula Pope, Willie Clyde Davis, Willie Sellers, John A. Dail, Coy Frye, Flick Ezzell and Nolie Robinson. Race H. J. Ezzell and Worley Ed wards are having a race with each other in the rabbit hunting this season. Both have a fine })ack of hounds and both are good hunters. Will try to give you the score later. Home For Christmas Mr. and Mrs. Medie Lindsey i were lucky enough to have their i son, Paul, home for Christmas this year. Paul is in the Navy now. Television Mrs. Agnes Langley has a new i television set. She says the recep- , tion is good and bad—if you ‘ catch on?
