Letters To The Editor: Dear Editor: I want to take this oppor tunity to show my concern, and I am sure there are many other parents that feel the way I do. 1 am referring to the “pop” festival that was held on the grounds behind the Municipal Building this past Labor Day weekend. I for one do know where my children (at least one) were, ' anyway, was and what was going on. The other was headed back to col lege. Martin Parker, one of the so-called long-haired children, was the organizer of this festival. Clean and whole some entertainment was en joyed by from 300 to 800 people. Other long-haired, and I emphasize the words LONG HAIR were involved in this get together. Because they have long hair does not mean they are bad. True, I believe they should be clean and neat, but I wish the public would stop condemning the kids because they have long hair. I deal with the public and I hear comments every day about it. Just to name a few of the so-cailed longhaired- kids in volved, these are gentlemen, not kids. David Copeland, Frank Cox and many others alike are really good citizens. I want personally thank Bill Gardner, Mayor Byrum, Martin Parker, the Police De partment and any others that made this available for the youngsters on what would have otherwise been a dull | holiday weekend in Edenton. I There were children here from as far away as Norfolk ' and Great Bridge. Many rock groups were here. The boys from the different bands played with each other and everyone enjoyed it. I for one am proud this happened in Edenton instead of one of the other towns. I hope there are more of these get togethers for the youngsters and I think there should be places such as the armc-ry, school auditorium or other places set aside for such as this. i Os course, all this must and should be, providing the chil dren and entertainers behave and set an example for the rest of the generation, so to speak. Yours truly, A PARENT. THE CHOWAN HERALD, EDENTON, NORTH CAROLINA, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1919. Pinto, Ford Division's frisky new little car, kicks up its heels with two engines, a 1600-cc. base powerplant and a 2000-cc. option. With “Pintopower” to spare, it excels at turnpike speeds and in tight passing situations. Small and light, Pinto gallops through the heaviest traffic and can wiggle into the tightest parking place. Ford dealers will introduce the '7l Pinto on September 11.
