The Trustees of this Institution have the sa lifaction, of stating to the Public that the semi annual Examination of its Students, which closed on Friday-last, was highly approved, not $nly by them, but by all who attended upon it. In a few instances only was it . necessary to bestow faint praise in none censure in several the most flaV tering encomiums were deservedly awaided. It was particularly pleasing to the Trustees to observe that a defect which , they had noticed jt the last Examination, in relation to the cultivati on, amongst the higher Students especially, of a correct and perfect acquaintance with the Ameri can Language, had, in a great degree, been re moved, as was clearly evinced in the Grammar" Exercises, Compositions aurl Public "Speaking of the YoungJVle;nv...Seeral of these Composition's and Orations were such a$ did honour to the In stitution ; some of the . latter were, indeed, in a very superior style,- contfjitnng gracefulness of delivery, justness ofTadence and emphasis, .and correct pronunciation. - '' The Young Ladies.of the academy, as usual,4 acquiueci mernseives in meir various siuaies 01 Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Lnghsh Gram mar, Geography, Astronomy, Moral Philosophy, Rhetoric, Composition, Drawing and Music, in a manner highly honorable to themselves and to their Preceptors 8c Pi eceptress.
