Case 3d. A gentleman in the coun try miasexl an article of wearing ap parel of trifling value. Last winter, but it was found returned to hia posses sion in a few day after. II made aa investigation but could make out aothing above a breech of truat, and oould not fit even that definitely upon any of hia household, and he dropped th rase, thinking no more of it lie waa summoned to attend npon the Grand Jury of this Term ia tha not only to hia own inconvenience, but the injury of the county in the item of witneaa fee. In the Episcopal btnte Convention, on the apiarance of thi card, the Bishop called attention to it. and a committee, appointed to eonnnlcr tlie matter, reported tba following rejor lution: "Retolttd, That the publication in the Appeal of this morning, signed by Richard Ilinea, and addrctwed to the Biahop of the Diocese, is indecorous and reprehensible in a high degree on the part of a member of tins Conven tion, and this Convention declares its disapproval and condemnation of the course pursued by the Rev, Dr. Uince in this matter." Mr. Jefferson Davis (ex-Preaident) made a motion to lay the resolution on the table, stating that he would like to see Mr. Hinea present and defend him self before any further action in this matter wa taken. One of th clergy informed Mr. Davia that tlie resolution waa only in tended to censure that port of the conduct of Mr. Hines giving publicity to the matter which reflects upon the Church. . One of the committee also stated that one of their members had called on Mr. Hinea, to whom he detailed hi grievances, and aaid he would furnish th committee with a written state- i ment but would not tell at what time. A letter written by Biahop Qnintard in February, 1872, addressed to Dr.1 Hinea, was also read the letter indi cates a deair for a reconciliation and ' Offering an apolorr for past mistreat, merit, if any bad been given.
