Mitchell, Landrum coach. Coach Mitchell announced the lineup of the Landrum boys’ team for the game tonight as: Mize and Brady, forwards; B. Fox, center; Smith and Howards, guards. ; For the Landrum girls, the line up will be: Dempsey and Daniels foiwards; Goodwin and Nash cen ters; and Bayne and Nance, guards. Hellmer-Poppe Mr. and Mrs. Raoul Ernest Hellmer of 611 E. Hester reported this morning that 351 people join ed the Polk County Chapter of the American Red Cross during the recent campaign for memberships and funds. The total cash receiv ed amounted to $488.30. The Rev. Charles G. Sewall was chairman of the Roll Call. Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln is chairman of the Coun ty Chapter. TRYON, N. C„ TUESDAY, Tryon Federal Savings And Loan Association Makes Splendid Record In a page advertisement in to day’s issue of the Bulletin is a statement of assets and liabilities of the Tryon Federal Savings & Loan Association of which F. P. Bacon is president and M.. R. Mc- Cown, secretary-treasurer. The statement shows that the local or ganization has $106,109.65 loan ed out to people building homes. It is money that is constantly at work. As it is repaid to the or ganization in monthly payments it is loaned again to others to build homes, thereby furnishing employ ment to workers and builders’ supply dealers. At the same time it pays a four per cent dividend to investors. This dividend ii free from taxes and does not have to be listed on the income tax re port. Officials state that the local association offers a means for the small investor to save his earn ings and draw a larger rate of interest with government protec tion than is posible in other meth ods of investment. The small salaried man can invest $5, $lO, $25 and SIOO or more with govern ment insurance up to $5,000. The local directors are F. P. Bacon, W. S. Green, M. R. McCown, Julian B. Hester, and John G. Landrum. There are 14 cities in North Caro lina with these Federal associa tions. During the past ten months their assets rose from $5,878,261 to $8,168,232. A lot of people have been saving over $3,000,000 the past few months and local people have this opportunity thru the Tryon Federal Savings <Sr Loan Association. DEC. 7, 1937
