Est. 1-31-28 County Election Officials Named By George C. Dedmondt The Polk County Board of Elec tions held their organization meet ing Saturday afternoon in the Court House. Ernest Thompson of Saluda, who was chairman of the board having resigned, State Chairman Lucas named John T. Coates Jr., of Saluda to succeed him, and Coates was elected chair man. The other members are Henry Thompson of Mill Spring:. (D), and N. G. Walker of Mili Spring, (R). The following were named as registrars and judges. Tryon precinct: Jesse Rhodes, reg istrar; Ruff Durham (D), George Logan, (R), Eb. Fisher, alternate. Shields Precinct: Fired 'Feagan, registrar; Harold Swain (D), and John Scoggins (R), with Roy Bridges as alternate.. Slaluda Precinct: Hugh Ward, registrar; with L. P. Fisher (D), and R. B. Staton (R). L. L. Clippard, al ternate. White Oak Precinct: W. G. Green, registrar; with Grover C. Thompson (B). and Twitty Jackson (R) as judges with W. M. Barber, alternate. Cooper's Gap Precinct: Dan Ledbetter, registrar, with Tolbert Odel (D), and J. B. Wilson (R) as judges with Robert Elliott as alternate. Columbus Precinct: F. Mi. Burgess, registrar with Homer Durham. (D), and R. S. Ramsey (R) as judges and W. J. Holbert as al ternate. St. Brieus, France April 17. Col. Charles A. Lindbergh was re ported today to have purchased the little pine-clad Island of Illeic off the Brittany coast TRYON, N C.. MONDAY, APRIL 18, 1938 Court of Honor Meets Tonight The Polk County Boy Scout Court of Honor will meet tonight at 7:30 at the Parish House with the Chairman Dr. C. Arthur Lin coln, presiding, assisted by Scout Executive R. M. Schiele. A num ber of boys are going up for pro motion in interesting merit work. The public is invited to attend. Anyone may drop in for a few minutes anytime between 7:30 and 8:30 and see the good work these boys are doing on their way up to better citizenship. Tryonites Invited To Join Spartans Music Association A page advertisement in today’s Bulletin invites the people of this section to join the Spartanburg Civic Music Association which is composed of 1800 music lovers of the Spartanburg area. The asso ciation is seeking 200 more mem bers to make 2,000. They can’t accept more than that number because Converse college auditor ium will not hold any more. Al len Rogers ind Ml W. Vannerson of Sp»rt,anburg are chairmen of the membership committee. The fee for adults is $5 and for stu dents $3. There will be a minimum, of three concerts for the season of 1938-39.
