C. f TUESDAY, MAY 9, 1939 WATCH THE COTTON SEED TREATMENT DEMON STRATIONS Last week two cotton seed treat ment demonstrations were put on by E. B. Edwards of Mill Spring and B. E. Cantrell of New Hope. In these demonstrations will be shown the effectiveness of treating cotton seed to control damping off. Two kinds of materials were used, 2 percent Ceresan and the 5 per cent New Improved Ceresan. These demonstrations are on the highway and will be well marked by signs in order that farmers might observe the difference in treated and untreated seed. Ac cording to reports, a large number of farmers have treated cotton seed at the four public treating places, where barrels are furnish ed. One merchant reported that he had sold 100 pounds of Ceresan, which would treat 500 bushels or more. ROOSTER SWAPPING DAY COMING Requests have come to the county agent’s office for 12 of the T. N. Wilcox pedigreed Barred Rock cockerels. Last year 25 of these fine cockerels were placed on farms in the county. It is hoped that anyone wanting one of these highly bred birds will get in their request to the county agent within ten days. AERIAL .PHOTOGRAPHS Richard Slagle, Field from the State AAA office in Raleigh, is now in the county scale checking for the aerial photo graphs, which will be used in checking AAA compliance for 1939.
