Local Firm Is Singled Out The Nov. 10th issue of "Bank Advertising News" singled out the advertising of First Federal Savings & Loan which offered the historical note paper with matching envelopes free for just stopping by. The newspaper had the following: "Nice-idea-departmenl- Amid all the clutter and clatter of pots and pans promotions (which in the Critics' opinions, probably benefit the vendors more than the institutions customers), we spotted this original, creative concept. "It's by First Federal Savings i Loan. Tryon. N. C., which is offering a box of eight pieces of historical note paper with matching envelopes — "free, just for stopping by our office..." "The limit is one box per family, but it is free.
