We have something going for us in a small way, that is the respite we have from the hot days in the way of a good shower; now and then. When we have a front mov ing in we can consider that a good time to get that line in the water. Providing there is no lightning dancing around on the water one will find the fish on the move and near the top foraging for good morsel. A good downpour can wash insects and worms in to the lake. If the rain is hard enough a lot of bugs will be knocked off the folage into the water. When this happens we can catch bream near the over hang ing growth and possibly bass that will move in on the feeding bream. The only existing ideal weather for fishing is when the weather is ideal for the fish. Ideal weather can be a rainy day with a bit of wind that will add oxygen to the waters, an overcast day that will allow the fish to roam without the discomfort of concentrated sunrays, all of which adds up to fish com fort. When all else fails we can resort to the use of the fishing almanac which is based on the phases of the moon. There are many fishermen who would not dare wet a line without a complete analysis of the signs of the zodiac. With them, the location of the signs determine whether the fish will bite. I remember a fishing buddy. Dr. A.L. Cromwell, who based the possibility of catching fish on the position of cattle. When we were on our way to the lake he decided the day would be a good day if the cattle were standing and grazing. Believe it or not all the various .beliefs pay off for the various individuals who use them more than on the type of bait being used. Whatever your pet motiva tion or belief, if it works for you, stay with it. Every fisherman sooner or later developes an inner feeling about fishing.
