Area Deaths and Funerals Graveside services were held Saturday, December 7, at 12 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with the Reverend Garther W. Roland officiating. WATKINS Mr. Johnny Frank Watkins Sr. of Albemarle, N.C., died Saturday, November 30, 1991, at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle. He was born October 26, 1946 in Stanly County to Mrs. Catherine Davenport Watkins and the late Robert Lee Watkins Sr. He received his education frofo West Badin High School, Badin, N.C. and Winston-Salem State University. While at WSSU, he was a member of the 1967 National Basketball Championship Team and Golf Team. He was also a member of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship. Mr. Watkins was an employee of Concord Telephone Com pany of Albemarle. His religious affiliation was with Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Badin. > He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sandra W. Watkins; two sons, Johnny Frank Watkins Jr. and Cor rey Devon Watkins; one daughter, Ms. Joncelyn F. Owens; his mother, Mrs. Catherine Watkins; four" brothers, Robert Lee, Curtis, Michael and Larry, all of Badin; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy W. Washington of Badin, and Mrs. Geraldine W. Wiley of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Shannon Owens and Cordarius Pool; an aunt, Mrs. Annie Watkins Lilly; and a host of Other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 3, 1991 at Kelsey Funeral Home in Badin. Burial fol lowed at Oak View Cemetery in New London, N.C. Russell's Funeral Home 822 Carl Russell Ave. 722-3459 BRACLEY Mr. Crafton Levern Bracley of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, December 1, 1991 at his home. He was a native of Winston-Salem and the ninth of ten children. Mr. Bracley was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Reynolds High School and attended Forsyth Technical College in 1973. He was an electrical contractor by trade. , He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bracley of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Charlene and Char maine Bracley of Winston-Salem; a son, Crafton L. Bracley Jr. of Winston-Salem; one stepson, Charles Terry of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Chrishawn Antuan Rhyne of Winston-Salem; his mother, Candice Bracley of Winston-Salem; five sisters, Helen Bracley, Roweilla (Sylvester) Horn, Alfreda (Joseph) Gause and Molly Jackson, all of Winston-Salem; Mary (Eugene) Mood of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; one brother. Tommy (Susie) Jackson of Winston-Salem; his grandmother, Fannie Jackson of Patterson, NJ.; two aunts, Thommie King of Patterson, N J. and Effie Boulwareof El Paso, Tex.; one uncle, Ancrum Jackson of Camden, NJ.; a devoted friend, Dorothy Simpson of Winston-Salem; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 7, at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Reverend B.F. Daniels officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. BURTON Tianna Semone Burton of Winston-Salem^died Monday, December 2, 1991 at Forsyth Memorial Hos pital. She was bom on December 2,1991. She is survived by her parents, Tammy Kirkland and Reginald Burton; and a host of other relatives and friends. DAVIS Mr. Marvin Calvin Davis of Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, December 3, 1991 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was born on July 16, 1927 to the late Parker and Maude Davis in Henderson, N.C. He was a native of Henderson, but had lived in Winston*Salem for the majority of his life. He was a member of Pil grim Rest Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board, the Senior Choir, and Sunday School. He was educated in the local public schools and a graduate of Atkins High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. He was also a member of the Sunrise Towers Chorus and a Sunrise Towers Volunteer. % i He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine C. Davis . of the home; four daughters, Maggie Watson, Anna and Cynthia Caldwell, and Ernestine Wiseman, all orWin ston-Salem; one son, George Caldwell of Winston* Salem; three sisters, Evelyn Davis, JaneuBlue, and Elaine Davis, all of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Kenneth, Clinton, and Elmer Ray Davis, all of Win ston-Salem; and several relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 7, at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist^hurch with ihe Rev erend Mack Mcuonnell officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemeter^ GETHARS > * Mr. George Washington Gethars of Winston Salem, died Saturday* December 7, 1991, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sumter, S.C. to the late George and Elizabeth Reed Gethars on January 27, 1910. He was a resident of Winston-Salem for about 67 years. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Steifel Mattress Company. He was of the Baptist faith. His wife preceded him in death on March 21,1986. He is survived by one step daughter, Mrs. Angela Beal of Bronx, N.Y.; one nephew, Gethers of Winston-Salem; three nieces, Mrs. Beverly Parker Linville, Mrs. Mary Parker Watson, and Mrs. Claudette Gethers Boyd, all of Winston-Salertf; four great-nephews, Jahureia Gethers of Baltimore, Md., Frederick Gethers, Bobby Linville, and Mandinka Wat son, all of Winston-Salem; five grandnieces, Jalaine Gethers, Johnetta Gethers, Tamela Gethers, Jareena Bethea, and Bonita Linville, all of Winston-Salem; plus a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 10, at 2 p.m. at Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Elder James A. Leak officiating. Burial followed at Ever green Cemetery. PERRY Mrs. Ada Figgers Perry of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, December 8,1991 at Forsyth Memorial Hospi tal. She was a native of Washington, D.C. and had spent the majority of her live in New York, N.Y. before moving to Winston-Salem 13 years ago. She was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and was a professional seamstress by trade. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Thomas Perry of the home; two nieces, Sadonna Boiling of Winston Salem and Shirley Bryant of Niles, Mich.; one nephew, Donald Perry of New York, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret G. Thomas and Ruth?Perry, both of Balti more, Md; plus several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 11, at 3 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Gardens Chapel with the Reverend Fred Mortez officiating. Entomb ment followed at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Chancel Choir of Grace Presbyterian to present annual Christmas Cantata The Chancel Choir of Grace Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. will present its annual Christmas Canta ta, Love Transcending, by John W. Peterson on December 15 at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church locat ed at 3901 Carver School Road. Dr. Pauline Fulton will be the narrator. The soloists are Mrs. Ava Bethea and Mrs. Ernestine Worley, sopranos; Mr. William Knight, tenor; and Mr. William Shouse, bass. The choir is directed by Mr. Eugene Roddy, director/organist of Grace Presbyterian Church. Prior to the presentation of the Cantata, the youth choir will be fea tured in a medley of Christmas car ols.
