A Barbershop Jubilee The Barbershop Jubilee will be held at 8 p.m., April 25 and 26, in Reynolds Auditorium by the Triad Harmony Express, a men's barbershop chorus, with chapter quartets, featuring "Showbiz," a championship Sweet Adeline quartet. A Live and Learn The April meeting of Live and Learn, sponsored by Cancer Services Inc., will be held April 25, from noon until 1 p.m. Richard Pinneau, Ph.D., of the Center for Life Enrichment, will speak on "Natural Resources for Comfort and Healing During Cancer Therapies." The Program will be held at the Cancer Ser vices Inc. Office, 107 Westdale Ave. in Winston-Salem (comer of First Street and Westdale) It is free and open to the public. For further information call 725 7421. A Candlelight Vigil There will be a candlelight vigil to support and learn about fears and myths that women face about breast cancer. A Medical Seminar A Community Medical Sem inar will be held April 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 1046 Miller St. in Win ston-Salem. The topic will be "The Management of Eye Involvement in Lupus and other Chronic Disease." The speaker for this Seminar will be R. Patrick Yeatts, M.D., Ophthalmologist and Professor of Medicine at Bowman Gray Medical Center. The event is free and open to the public. For literature/further informa tion call 910-768-1493. A Unity Luncheon The YWCA of Winston Salem will celebrate YWCA National Day of Commitment to Eliminate Racism by conducting a Lunch with a twist. All atten dees must bring a guest of a dif ferent race. Featured at the April 30 lunch will be Sandra Hoyle, activist; Dr. Donald Martin, superintendent of WS/FC Schools; and "D" Smith, presi dent of the Winston-Salem Urban League. The event is at noon and open to the public. Reservations are required, and all participants must bring a guest of a different race. The lunch is $2 per person and will be at the YWCA at 1201 Glade St. To make reservations call 722-5318. Participation is limited to the first 100. A Lifeguard Training The YWCA of Winston Salem & Forsyth County is offer ing a lifeguard training course for all those wanting summer jobs as lifeguards. The class includes rec ognizing water hazards and drowning situations and CPR and first aid skills. All lifeguards are certified by the American Red Cross. Classes will be held at the YWCA, 1201 Glade St. Tuesdays and Thursdays May 1 through May 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $100 for members and $120 for others. Participants must register at both the YWCA and the Amer ican Red Cross, 610 Coliseum Dr. An additional fee of $95 is required at the American Red Cross. For more information, contact the YWCA at 722-5138. A Book Fair > win ii?i an The Rural Hall Elementary School Book Fair will be held in the school media center May 5 to 9. The hours each day will be 8:30 to 11 a m and 1 to 3:30 p.m. A large variety of new and use books will be available, as well as poster, pencils and other items. A Chorus Rehearsal The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Unit, North Carolina Retired School Personnel Chorus will have its final rehearsal May 7, at noon, at Grace Presbyterian Church, in preparation for its per formance at the unit's annual meeting/luncheon, scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, also at noon. This event will be held at the Holiday Inn-Select on Univer sity Prky. The speaker of the luncheon will be Mr.s Velma P. Shore, executive director of the Crisis Control Ministry. One does not have to be a member of the orga nization in order to participate, however tickets must be pur chased by May 5. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are only $10. This is not a fund raiser, but simply the culminating meet ing of the fiscal year for the orga nization. All the retired school personnel are urged to join and support his organization. This particular organization is respon sible for the many of benefits all retired school personnel have got ten over the years. A Atkins Reunion Trip The Atkins High School' Class Reunion Group 1946-1951, is sponsoring a four-day and ' three-night trip to Atlantic City, ' N.J., during Memorial Day week-, end, May 23-26.
