Monday began the second part of its 1980 Energy Crisis Assistance Program (ECAPl An additional $250,000 was earmarked for part two of the heat assistance program. Up to 1,250 low-income families may receive a maximum of $250. in fuel assistance Those among the 1,105 low-income families served under the first allocation will not be eligible for assistance under the se cond program. To eliminate long waiting periods the application pro cess has changed, accord ing. to the Charlotte Area Fund officials. Appointments are ne cessary to apply for assist ance. Applicants must call 332-2341, 333-8113 or 372 3010 to schedule an appoint ment. charlotte Area Fund of ficials say applicants must bring documents to support their eligibility. These documents (if ap propriate) are pay stubs, letters from the Depart ment of Social Services, Veteran’s Administration, Social Security or company pension, retirement or dividends and an unem ployment passbook Other items include a statement from the place where you get your pay check or government checks cashed or deposit ed, statement from em ployer, statement from court for child support or alimony and a statement from the person in the household who pays the rent on a regular basis. Applicants will also need the name of the fuel vendor or utility company, the ac count number and a copy of the most recent bill or statement of the amount owed. Also needed are the so cial security number of the household bill payer, Me dicaid card, and Section 8 letter of documentation of the amount of Section 8 subsidy. Some applications under the first allocation were delayed by as long as three weeks when applicants did not bring the necessary documents with them, ac cording to Charlotte Area Fund officials. When applicants call, ap pointments will be made -for the following locations during the listed hours. Monday through Friday from 8:30 a m.-2:30 p.m., appointments can be made for the West Boulevard Area Center, 3100 West Boulevard; the Westside Area Center at 1222 Oak lawn Avenue, or the Alex ander Street Neighborhood' Center at 910 N. Alexander Street.
