Twin Oaks News CARL IRWIN Staff Correspondent Mr. and Mrs. Fred Andrews and son, Hoke, Wm. Andrews, Spar ta, and Bud Andrews, Bel Air, Md., spent Sunday afternoon with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sheets spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Sturgill, here. Lorene Landreth spent Satur day night with relatives here. Eld. and Mrs. W. H. Handy, Ennice, spent a while Sunday af ternoon with friends here. Clint Landreth, Folger Wagon er and Gene Crouse, who are em ployed in Gary. W. Va., spent the week end with homefolks in Sparta. Miss Blanch Crouse, who has employment in Danville, Va., spent the week end with rela tives in Sparta. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Richardson, Galax, Va., spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cheek, in Sparta. Wade Irwin and Sgt. Dale Shores received their student pi lot license on August 12, after 15 trial flights at Galax Airport, un der instructor Bower Dixon. Each of them made their solo flights on August 11. Edd Landreth, Claremont, Cal., and formerly of Alleghany, has been spending sometime with his brother, T. W. Landreth, Piney Creek, who has been very ill for sometime. T. W. Landreth, Mrs. Mae Woodruff, Lt. and Mrs. Burton Landreth spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Landreth. Lt. Mrs. Wayne Reeves and son, Paul, spent last week end with Mrs. Jim Wolff and Miss Ruby Atwood, King. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Reeves, of Bridgeton, N. J., spent a few days with Miss Callie Reeves and Mrs. J. M. Doughton, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin York, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Robertson and children and Mrs. Stella York, Washington, D. C., will arrive here Monday to spend two weeks’ vacation with friends and rela tives. Bower Dixon, flight instructor, Galax airport, and son, Jerry, stopped with friends here Sun day, en route to West Jefferson. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sanders and daughter, Juanita, N. Wilkesboro, spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. C. M. Sanders, Stratford. Mrs. Bower A. Irwin spent Friday afternoon with friends here.
