CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM by DR. ROGER W. PRICE “The human brain is the most powerful embodi ment of electromagnetic energy of which we have any knowledge.” The human brain is of fantastic complexity for || | a very simple reason. It is, or is intended to be, the dictator of every cell and function of f§ the body. It is not surprising therefore that its communications system, the nervous system, is ? also fantastically complex. Spinal bones out of alignment can affect the transmission of nerve impulses || to and fro along the spinal cord and the great nerve cables. The Modern Chiropractic Physician holds that by the correction of structural misalignment in the body, for the most part in the spinal column, interferences with the nervous system are eliminated and the body is enabled to cure itself. Lessons learned from helicopter operations during the Korean War have proved invaluable in the de velopment of the Army’s steadily expanding aviation program. In recent years the Transporta tion Corps has pioneered in the widespread use of containeriza tion to facilitate the shipping of cargo, the employment of roll-on, roll-off ships for the movement of tracked and wheeled vehicles and the development of improved techniques and equipment for over-the-beach logistical opera tions in areas where ports are not available or are denied by enemy action. Its achievements include the development of successful vertical and short take-off and landing aircraft, a family of all aluminum amphibians carrying multiples of from five to 60 tons of cargo over water or land, and research in the field of the wheelless Ground Effect Machines (GEMs) which travel over the surface supported by a cushion of air. Recently the Corps successfully demonstrated a one-man rocket device- capable of lifting soldiers Expect Increase Based on reports from pro ducers as of July 1, the North Carolina Crop Reporting Service has forecast 1962 production of fluecured tobacco at 856,700,000 pounds. Such a crop would be about 24.5 million pounds, or almost three percent, greater than the 832,215,000 pounds harvested in 1961, and it would exceed the over streams, embankments and other obstacles. 1951-60 ten-year average by al most 10 million pounds. It would also be the State’s largest flue- f cured crop since 1956. Record high prospective yields in the Old and Middle Belts and in the Border Belt, with an in crease of 4.3 percent in allotted acres, are responsible for the expected increase. The total flue-cured acreage is estimated at 485,000 acres, or 22, 000 more than for 1961. First of the month indications point to a fluecured yield of 1,770 pounds per acre, or 21 pounds short of the average for last year.
