S/DELENA PEEK STREET Executrix of the Estate Roby Street 4-30-4tc When you think of prescrip tions, think of VARNER’S, adv. 5 the Shoe ©Li BY Pat PatUrion What about a snug heel fit? We have discussed length and width fitting at the ball of the foot. The next thing the professional shoe fitter looks for is the heel fit of the shoe. A loose heel fit will usually result in blisters, run - down heels, and rotat ing heels. In better grade shoes, the heel width will usually be two widths narrower than the ball of the foot — so that a B width shoe will have a AA heel. Lower grade shoes may have the heel width only one width nar rower. A professional shoe fitter recognizes the prob lems in heel fitting. He knows what particular shoes > have narrower fitting heels than others. With this know ledge he can allow generous toe room with a snug fitting heel. Another factor a profes sional shoe fitter watches is theel bone cut. Sometimes the shoe is cut too high on the outside, causing a pain ful blister or cut under the ankle bone. This is usur.lly corrected by a heel pad or the selection of a lower cut shoe at the heel. Pat Shoe World Located In The College Shopping Cent®* Brevard, N. C.
