Visitors to picnic areas and campgrounds will find four and six cubic yard refuse contain ers instead of individual 32 gal Ion garbage cans at each unit. Ranger Hile said: “The district used to service 456 garbage cans daily during the primary recreation season. This new system will reduce costs in fuel, labor and ma terials and more important eliminate odor, flies and bees from individual eating sites. The visitor will also not have his routine interrupted by the daily servicing of the garbage can that used to be in their unit. All that is required of the For est visitor is that they carry their refuse and litter a little bit further.” The visitor center at the Ran ger Station will be open on weekends to the public from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Over 1,000 persons visited the Cradle of Forestry in America last weekend. Approximately 900 students from Buncombe, Henderson and Transylvania County Schools visited the Forest Environ mental trail located behind the Ranger Station last week. “It looks like another busy summer”, stated the Ranger; “The District is tight on recre ation funds and we need the cooperation of all visitors. If all the Forest visitors will respect the rights of other visitors and treat the public land like it is their own property, it should be a very enjoyable season for aD.” Many Area Students To Attend Brevard College This Fall have Many ana students been accepted lor admission to Brevard College in the fall of 1174.
