A2 I APRILS, 2017 BERTIE LEDGER-ADVANCE Community Obituaries The fabric of Bertie County since 1832 Mildred “MiUie” Wynne Hoard Cherry Mildred “Millie” Wynne Hoard Cherry, 88, lov ing wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Char lotte North Carolina Bom on October 10, 1928 in WUliamston, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Nannie Bullock Wynne and step-daughter of Melba Wynne Barnes. In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Clayton Hoard, her second husband, William Sutton Cherry Sr., and son, Michael Clayton Hoard. She was also preced ed in death by her brother Eli Marion Wyrme; arid sisters. Ruby Wynne Modlin and Mabel CuUipher Robinson. Survivors include son James Marion Hoard (Cyn thia) of Charlotte; daughter- in-law Denise Hoard, whose husband Michael is deceased; Step-chil dren Margaret Cherry Keiger (Steven); William Sutton Cherry Jr. (Susan); Edward Mardre Cherry (Kimberly); Elizabeth Cherry Sallenger (Thomas); 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; broth er Jack Warren Wynne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Prior to moving to Charlotte, Millie was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wind sor, North Carolina where she served on altar guild and as a lay reader. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Memorial Fund. Graveside service to be held on April 25th at 11:00 am at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in A^dnd- sor, NC. Mary Hughson Perry COLERAIN, NC- Mary Hughson Perry, age 90, of Colerain, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was bom on July 29, 1926 to the late James Herbert and Mary Chamblee Hughson in Bertie Cormty, NC. Mrs. Perry loved being a farmer’s wife to the late Dan Perry, loved being a mother to her four sons, and was a homemaker known for hying the best chicken ever. She was an avid gardener with a passion for roses and daffodils. Mrs. Perry was a lifetime member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mrs. Perry is survived by her four sons, Herbert Wayne Perry of Lafayette, CA, James Michael Perry and wife, Patsy of Colerain, NC, Danny Lynn Perry and wife, JiU of Windsor, NC, Flint Wood Perry and wife Kathryn of Colerain, NC; two granddaughters, Courtney and Keating Perry; seven grandsons, An drew, Thad, Brandon and Justin Perry, Greg Bo swell, and Seth and Conley Raines; a great-grand daughter, Gracie Boswell; and a sister, Inez Bunch of Edenton, NC. The family wlU receive hlends anytime at the home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the Betha ny Baptist Church in Perrytown with Rev. This will be the first of two sales. There will be a huge selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs, lilies and more. The Bertie Alumni Community Association will host a Greek Festival Step and Dance Show at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Bertie High School. This is a family event and is open to the public.
