Allen, of 9902 South King St. in Windsor, was charged with armed robbery, possession of stolen property and communicating threats. He was placed under a $75,000 secured bond and confined to the Ber- tie-Martin Regional Jail. His first appearance in Bertie County District Court is scheduled for today (Wednesday). Chief Lane reported Allen had been ar rested previously for attempted armed rob bery of Duck Thru No. 9 in Windsor Square, but the magistrate released him after finding no probable cause. “1 can’t say enough about the good work the officers did to make an arrest in this case,” Chief Lane said. “Offi cers came in to work on their days off and every one contributed. 1 also appreciate the work of the deputies with the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office.” The chief said his heart went out to the victim. “1 feel for the vic tim. She was scared to death, threatened and will have to relive this incident several times- over during the crimi nal justice process,” he added. “1 really wonder if this incident would have occurred if the suspect had been held accountable for his ac tions in the past.” They cofsidered holding him back a year.
