PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Crockett and children, of the Cartooge chaye Community, went to At lanta, Ga , last week to attend the wedding of Mr. Crockett's brother, John S. R. Crockett. While there they visited Mr. and Mrs. Davis Morgan and Or. and Mrs. Paul Hudson. Mrs James Waldroop left Saturday to Join ber husband, who Is stationed at Port Jack son, S. C. Junior Chamber of Commerce executive board In High Point Saturday and Sun day. HIGHLANDS PERSONAL Miss Elizabeth Newton, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Newton, has returned to Greens boro, where she will resume her studies at the University of North Carolina Woman's Col lege, after a week's spring va cation here. Miss Martha Holt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Holt, Is taking her nurse's training at Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Charlie Henry is a pa tient at the Highlands Com munity Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Thompson moved to Walhalla, S. C., April 1. Mr. Thompson is now em ployed as manager of the Vet erans of Foreign Wars dining room, which is open to the pub lic. The Thompsons live on Route 1, on the Westminster Highway. Richard B. Thompson, a stu dent at Western Carolina Col lege, Cullowhee, spent the week end with his mother, Mrs. H. P. P. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was on the college honor roll for the past quarter. Mrs. C. P. Redden and Frazer Redden, both of Delray Beach, Fla., and Highlands, spent the week-end here at the Paxton House, getting their home ready for summer occupancy. John A. Russell, of Orlando, Fla., and Highlands, spent the week-end here with friends fishing. Mr. Russell has a pri vate fishing camp on the Dil lard road. Production of winter apple varlties in North Carolina last year totaled 820,000 bushels, compared with 1,908,000 bushels a year earlier.
