Try not to over-react to a child's lie or boast. Children seek attention. If they get it when they tell a lie, they will con tinue to do so. GIVE HOUSE PLANT GOOD SUMMER CARE Don't forget to give your houseplants proper care during the warm outside gardening months. You'll want them green and healthy next winter when they will be the center of attention again. The best method of feeding your house plants is to use liquid fer tilizer. If a soluble fertilizer is us ed, dissolve one teaspoonful in a quart of warm water. Stir well and let stand overnight before using. Then use enough of the solution around well established plants to wet the soil well. If some plants have outgrown the containers and become root bound, repot into a larger con tainer. A good potting medium is a mix ture of three parts loamy soil, two parts peat moss and one part coarse sand. To this mixture add one cup of 20^o super phosphate to each bushel of prepared soil. Bone meal may be substituted for the superphosphate. Many plants do better out of doors in the summer if they are adapted to outdoor conditions. They may be grown on porches, terraces or in the garden border. This would not apply to African violets and certain sensitive specimens. A good way to carry many types of house plants through the sum mer is to bury them up to the rim of their containers in a choice site out-of-doors. A layer of gravel at the base of each pot will assure good drainage. BLEACH IS KEY TO CLEAN WASH Chlorine and oxygen-based bleaches whiten fabrics and help remove stains and heavy soils. The oxygen-based bleach may be used on all types of fabric. It should be used regularly for best results and can be added along with the detergent. Thanks to Betty McLean Ritchie of Charlotte (formerly of Raeford) for the two followjng recipes.
