The Interview With the Govirmi. Tne committee to wait on (iovi riior Scales in regard to an extension of the A. iV N. C K have returned from Raleigh, but they have no good news to report. The Governor is uncompro misingly , dead set "agin us A largo delegation from several c un ties, compost d of truly representativ e men, called on him an 1 submitted a plan for extending the road -a plan that could not possibly injure the Slate in any respect, but on tho other hand promised much to the State at large and specially to this section. It is diflicult to see how the Governor could resist the unanimous wishes of tho entire people in the section affected by the A. A N. C. K , but he proved equal to the emergency and rejpctedjfvery propo sition looking to a connection of the A. it N. C. ana the CfV. V. V. rail roads The Governor has made up his mind to turn the State over to his suc oeeeor as he found it if he can. II ie pre decessors never extended the A. & N. C. R., BDd why should he V We do not doubt that the (ioTernor is perfectly honest in his motives, but we truly regret that he cannot agree w ith the people of this section of the State as to what ii best for us. He seemB to regard us as incapable of suggesting any plac by which the A. & N. C. R. can be made a factor in developing this section. But our people must not be dis couraged. We must pick our locks and try again. Another Governor is to be elected next year. In the meantime let ns now turn our attention towards con structing a railroad between this city and Wilmington. Let our people now unite upon this proposition as they were united upon the extension of the A. & N. C. R. ; let us go at it in a substantial and practical way and something will be accomplished.
