Duplin Bassmasters 1985 Schedule The Duplin County Bassmasters are primed and ready to begin the 1985bassin' attack. The new officers have been selected, the '85 schedule is set, and most of the bassers are preparing to begin the ^lO-tourna ment series. New members are very welcome to become a part of the companionship and competition that is involved with the affiliation of a bass club. Pros pective members can contact any club member and/or Joey Quinn during business hours at Quinn's Variety in Kenansville, 296-0034. 1985 Tournament Rules 1. Only largemouth bass may be weighed in. 2. Life jackets must be worn when boat is under power by gasoline motor. 3. Fish must be caught in a sporting manner and on artificial lures. 4. No alcoholic beverages or stimulants may be used from blast off through weigh-in. 5. Any protest must be made immediately to tournament com mittee. 6. All decisions made by tour nament committee will be final. 7. No boats will leave before starting time or return after quitting time. Anyone breaking this rule will be disqualified. The tournament chairman will be the time keeper. 8. The 14-2 limit will be used. Any fish brought to weigh-in not meeting size limit will cause dis qualification. This is final! 9. A bonus of 2 ounces will be awarded for any fish that is released alive and swims away. 10. Tournament committee will be responsible for weighing all fish. 11. All state fishing and boating laws must be abided by. 12. A tie shall be broken by a cast off by using a 5/8 ounce plug furnished by the tournament official. Best of 10 casts in a 2-foot diameter circle at 25-foot distance shall decide winner. ij. entry lee win oe per person. This must be paid to tournament official before blast off. 14. First and second place plaques and lunker award will be awarded for each tournament. 15. Everyone will conduct them selves in a sportsmanlike and cour teous manner. 16. Anyone repeatedly breaking rules number 3, 4 or 15 or com mitting any act to deface the club will be dismissed from the club. 1985 Tournament Schedule Saturday, Feb. 16 - Lake Sutton, 8 -4. Cape Fear River - Sawpits Landing, 6:30 - 2:30 Saturday, June 15 - Black River - Hunts Bluff Landing, SR 1547 - 7 - 3 Sunday, July 21 - Lake Wheeler - 6:30-2:30 Saturday, August 17 - Trent Neuse Rivers - Lawsons Landing - 6:30 - 2:30 Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 14 & 15 - Lake Gaston - Stonehouse Creek Landing - 7:30 - 3:30 Saturday - 6 - 2 Sunday (Two day fishing trip) Saturday, Oct. 19 - Falls Lake - Bartons Creek Landing - 7 - 3 Sunday, Nov. 17 - Trent-Neuse Rivers - Lawsons Landing, 7 - 3 Bass can be caught all year long. Several club members have reported catching several nice stringers of fish. Keep your fish alive in 85! JUNIOR AUXILIARY Since the start of the school year, the Junior Auxiliary at Duplin General Hospital has been very active. The group consists of stu dents over 14 years of age who do various jobs around the hospital on a volunteer basis. The current members are now working toward mastering skills such as CPR and learning vital signs. On Nov. 19, the group listened to talks by various nurses thoughout the county. On Dec. 10, a going-away party was given for Mrs. Crowe, assistant head nurse at Duplin General, who was their advisor. Mrs. Crowe was presented with a crystal dish. The new advisor is Brenda Grubbs. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT Mr. and Mrs. Raeford Williams of Kenansville announce the birth of their son, Emanbel Oswald on Christmas Day, December 25, 1984 at Duplin General Hosoital. Mrs. Williams is the former Vickie Joyner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Joyner of Warsaw. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams of Kenansville.
