The couple will have a week in Hawaii and will live in Chapel Hill, N.C. The bride graduated from Grimsley High School wh ere she was named to the national honor society, was treasurer of student government and was a member of the homeoom i n g and May courts. She is arising senior at the University of N>rfi Carolina at Chapel Hill where she is majoring in English and has been treasurer of her resi dence hall. The bridegroom is a rising junior at UNC-CH where he is a member of PiKappa Alpha Fraternity and of the va r s ity baseball team. The bride had Miss Susan Shapiro of Wilmington for maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's cousins, Miss Mary Ann Putnam of Roebuck, S. C. and Miss Claudia Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; the bride - groom's sister-in-law,Mrs.£mes Roberts of Fayetteville, Mrs. Mike Earey of Chapel Hill, Miss Carol Lane of Charlotte and Miss Carol Carruthers. Flower girls were the bride groom's nieces, Vera Melvin and Laura Melvin of Mars Hill. The bridegroom's nephew ,Bai ley Melvin, also of Mats Hill, was ri:.g bearer. Tne bridegroom had his bro ther, James Roberts of Fayette ville for best man. Hiram B.Hens ley of Burnsville N. C. obser - ved their 50th Wedding Anni versary on Sunday, September 20, 1970. They were united Burnsville Garden Club News The Burnsville Garden Club met September 25 at the home of Mis. Dover Fouts with Mb. Fred Proffitt associate hostess. The meeting was called to order by the President, Mrs. Brooks Wilson. Committee re ports were given. Mb. James Bingham read in marriage on Sunday, Sep tember 20, 1920. The couple was honored with a reception attended by family and friends in Erwin, Tennessee. an article on the growing and caring for ornamental gourds. Mrs. Bingham then introduced Miss Hope Bailey who showed pictures of Vietnam before the war and now. A social hour was enjoyed by the fifteen members present and four guests.
