Thirty-First Annual livestock Show and Sale ' was held at Small's Produce Shed in Pasquotank County : on April 27 and 28. h f - . I This was a very successful show and sale for Per quimans County 4-H club members. County 4-H'ers placed in every major part of the show except Beef Showmanship. The third place Individual Pig was shewn by Sharron Riddick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McKay Riddick of Rt. lt Belvidere and was pur chased for .77 per pound by Peoples Bank . and Trust Company. C.F. Stallings Jr. exhibited the Champion Pen of Throe Pigs. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Stall- ' ings Sr. also of Rt. 1, Belvidere: These pigs were purchased by. Farmers Bank of Sunbury for .85 cents per pound. Darlene Riddick, sister of Sharon, exhibited the third place Pen of Three which was pur chased by Tuck's Bar-B-Q for .67 per pound. " Other exhibitors of pigs were Dena Copeland whose pigs werp purchased by Hollowell Oil Company for .70 cents per pound. Winfall Ready-Mix purchased Kent Copciand's pigs for 81 cents per pound. Farmers Bank of ' Commissioners Hold Monday Meeting The Board of Perquimans County Commissioners met on Monday and approved the Draft Plan: Design Ablemarle Region Resource Conservation and Development Project and authorized the Chairman of the Board to sign same. ' ' The bid submitted by W.F. Ainsley in the amount of $1,225.00 for a 1974 car used by the Sheriff's Department was accepted by the Board. The Board approved Belvidere-Chapel Hill as a Fire District. R.L. Spivey was ap pointed to serve' as a member of the Board of Directors of A.R.P.C. , The Board, also, adopted Hertford, N.C.. Thursday, May , Sunbury purchased Earlie Byrum's pigs for .64 cents. Bryant Perry showed an in- ; dividual pig which was pur- chased by Hertford Hard-' ware and the Bank of North Carolina, NA for $1.08 pen pound. Hollowell Oil Com pany purchased Daryl Perry's pigs for ,75 per pound. Brian Baker's pigs were purchased by Hertford Hardware and the Bank of North Carolina, NA for 73 ' cents per pound. They also purchased Arden Stallings pigs for .65 , cents per pound. Albemarle Chemical Company purr chased Cheryl Stallings' pigs for 62 and one-half .. cents per pound. Farmers Feed and Seed purchased Paige Elliott's pig for $1 per pound. J . . W Grain Com pany purchased Darlene . Riddick's individual pig for $1.20 per pound. C.F. Stall ings' individual pig was pur chased by Lee Riddick .'. , Son for $1.05 'per pound. Woodard's Pharmacy pur chased Eddie Fowler's pig for 92 and one-half cents per pound. Hertford Hardward and the Bank of North Carolina, NA purchased Lynn Elliott's pig for 97 and one-half cents per pound. , Winslow-Blanchara Motor Company purchased Donna Elliott's pig for $1.02 and a Resolution urging the General Assembly ol North Carolina and state officials to do all that is reasonable and within their power to adequately fund the N.C. Community College System to allow faculty and staff salary increases and to provide sufficient personnel to meet the needs and desires of our local citizens. The capital construction and equipment funds being held in reserve for College of the Albemarle are vitally . needed to get the college's programs out of antiquated facilities and into new buildings. The availability of the above mentioned funds is now being used by College of the Albemarle to attract You don't have to work away from home to earn the extra income your family needs. ' In the Steer Show, C.F: ; Stallings exhibited the third 1 place steer in the show. His steer was purchased by Albemarle Chemical Com-., pany and Central Fertilizer for 66 cents per pound, Cheryl Stallings' steer was purchased by Winslow- Blanchard Motor, Company for 65 cents per pound. Arden Stallings' steer was purchased by Marvin Wig- gins at 70 cents per pound. : "The show and sale was most . successful for Per quimans County 4-H'ers," ; said Richard H. Bryant, County Extension Chair man. "The animals were of good quality and the buyers had their usual enthusiasm at the sale. An event of this type would be impossible without ! the ; fine support rendered by our Iocal businesses." In the Swine Showman ship Class, Perquimans County had a clean sweep. First place went to Bryant Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Perry of Rt. 2,, Hertford. Second place was awarded to Dena Copeland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parker Copeland also of Rt. 2. And thrid place was cap tured by Earlie By rum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Byrum of Rt. 1, Hertford. federal construction funds and their loss will have a drastic impact ' on the College's long range con struction plans.
