Prayer tour makes stop in Perquimans BY REGGIE PONDER Chowan Herald Perquimans County was one of the first stops on an expanded Beacon District Prayer Tour. The Rev. Gil Wise, dis trict superintendent of the Beacon District of the United Methodist Chinch, was at the Perquimans County Courthouse Sept. 28. The Beacon District covers 15 counties. More than 20 people gathered in front of the courthouse at noon to pray. Most were pas tors of United Methodist Churches in Perquimans and members of those churches. This is the third year the Beacon District has held the event. But the prayers weren’t limited to the needs of United Meth odist congregations. The group not only prayed for eveiy Methodist church in the county but also for churches of other denomi nations - and their pastors - by name. In addition, prayers were offered for local leaders, first responders, schools, and people who come to the courthouse as attorneys, witnesses or defendants. The time of prayer in front of the courthouse concluded with everyone touching a prayer stole, or the shoulder of some one who was touching the stole, as the group prayed aloud the Lord’s Prayer in unison In a new development, the tour this year not only is reaching the courthouse The Beacon District in- in every county in the dis- eludes all of the Albemar- Notice of Public Hearing The Hertford Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on November 9th, 2015 at 7:30 pm, at the Municipal Building to consider the Adoption of the Perquimans County Land Use Plan Update. Ps 114:7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; KJV THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD The Bible says: • The wicked perish at the presence of God • The earth shakes and the heavens drop at the presence of God • Sinai was moved at the presence of God • The hills melted like wax at the presence of God • The earth trembles at the presence of God • The idols of the heathen are moved at His presence • Mountains flow down at His presence • Nations tremble at His presence • The earth is burned at His presence • The angel said unto Zacharias, “I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God” • No flesh should glory in His presence • We will be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ at His coming • They that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, shall be punished with everlasting destructions from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power. • They that worship the beast and receive his mark shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and the presence of the Lamb. We are told in the Bible: Ps 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. Ps 100:2 Serve the LORD with gladness; come before his presence with singing. We cannot escape God’s presence. We need His presence.
