Power was out for a week and the town’s water plant was forced offline. After about three days, the water in the system ran out. “The National Guard came down and handed out cases of water down at the fire sta tion as well as ice,” Woodard said. Gasoline also wasn’t avail able for motorists or people who wanted to run electrical generators. He urged people who use generators to make sure they don’t accidentally feed electricity back into the electrical grid because that could injure or kill a lineman who is working on the sys tem.
