The jersey will be permanently displayed in the school Mack’s Jersey Retired Kings Mountain High School retired the jersey of former foot- ball standout Kevin Mack dur- ing annual awards day ceremonies Monday at B.N. Barnes Auditorium. Mack’s number 20 will be per- manently displayed in the school trophy case. KMHS head football coach and athletic director Dan Brooks presented the jersey to Principal Bob McRae. Mack came from Clemson University, where he played on last year’s national championship collegiate team, and received a standing ovation from the approximately 900 students, teachers, and guests who attended the program. Mack was a standout tailback for the Mountaineers in 1980, leading the team to an 8-2 overall'récord and. second place ‘urged to attend: Those who do in the rugged Southwestern 3-A Conference. Mack is the school’s all-time single game and single season rushing leader. He gained 1,585 yards during his senior season and had a high game of 287 yards rushing in a victory over R-S Central. Mack was All-Southwestern Conference, All-State and played in the East-West All-Star game his senior year. : He earned a full scholarship to Clemson, where he broke in as a freshman as a reserve tailback and kickoff return specialist. Bobby Peterson. was 3-for<4 for Sulzer. Swimming Pool To Open Deal Street swimming pool will open to the public June 5 and 6. Hours of operation will be 1-6 p.m. Saturday and 2-5 p.m. Sun- day.
