Grover Gets Grant The town of Grover has been notified from the Farmers Home Administration that it ‘will receive a $500,000 grant to be applied toward the over $1 million cost of a town sewer system. Grover, which has been trying to come up with the necessary funds for the sewer system for over 20 years, already has enough promises of grants and loans to cover the remaining cost. : ' Mayor Bill McCarter received word of the grant approval last week from the offices of Con- gressman James T. Broyhill and Senator John East. The town will now schedule a FRAN PATTERSON public hearing to explain the financing and cost to citizens. A bond referendum would then be held to determine if Grover citizens will accept the cost of the system. If approved, McCarter said - construction would begin in the fall. Many Grover residents have been plagued by sewage backup from their septic tanks. Grover plans to construct several pumping stations which would carry sewage to the Pilot Creek Waste Treatment Plant in Kings Mountain. The two towns approved an informal agreement several years ago.
