Lynne Mauney Wins Golf Event At KMCC Lynne Mauney shot the best score, 82, during the Kings Mountain Invitational Golf Tournament in which 31 women golfers participated Tuesday at Kings Mountain Country Club. Mrs. Mauney, of KMCC, won first prize in Flight One. Other winners were Dot Spangler of Shelby, second; Lib Gault of Kings Mountain, third; and Margaret Williams of Kings Mountain and Peggy Webb, of Shelby, who tied for low net. Five City Committees To Meet This Week Five major city comittees will meet this week and next. Members of the Annexations committee chaired by Commis- sioner Humes Houston will meet Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at _ the Lake. Office at Moss Lake SANDRA DEE MARTIN Sandra Celebrates Birthday Sandra Dee Martin celebrated her 18th birthday on July 25th. A birthday party was given at the home of her parents, James and Pat Martin. Relatives enjoyed birthday . cake with ice cream and beverages. Miss Martin is a 1984 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School. Her parents, James and Pat Martin, planned the “Happy Bir- thday Party” for their daughter. with Vice Chairman Fred Dix- on, City Police Chief Jackie Bar- rett and Lake officer Phil Witherspoon for a tour and in- spection of Moss Lake. Members of the Communica- tions will gather Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at City Hall. Members of the Hydro Com- mittee chaired by Commissioner Jim Dickey will meet Tuesday noon at City Hall. : Mayor John Henry Moss said that the major committees are the “major thrust of city ac- tivities together with 12 active city departments.” He said that the city is active in installation of sidewalk and gutter and street resurfacing projects have been completed on Somerset Street from Princeton to Phifer; May Street, Church to Grace, one block; North Dilling, Parker, and North to third house on left; Deal Street Park Area; Church Street, Linwood to Lynn two blocks; Elm Street, Railroad Avenue and Cansler St., North Piedmont, King and Parker, two blocks; Parker Street, Gaston to Dilling, two blocks; and on Public Works Drive. In addition, he said that curb and guttering is underway on Falls to Cherokee and on Fulton Drive and City Streets. The city will be installing curb and gutter and sidewalks on King Street where workmen are grading this week for paving im- provements expected to get underway in the next few days. Low net was held by Peggy Bumgarner of Wood- bridge and low putts by Barbara Ledford. Ann Withers of KMCC was winner of the Third Flight with Linda Donahey placing second, of Gastonia, and low putts was held by Marg Yancey of Kings Mountain. Women golfers from five area country clubs participated in the day’s event which opened with tee-off on the club greens at 9 a.m. the club ballroom. After’ the. tournament, ihe By ood] club hosted a social hour in Bank Acquires Assets First Citizens Corporation and its subsidiary, First Citizens Bank, today reached an agree-' ment with WhiteStock Corp. to acquire all assets of WhiteStock and transfer them to First Citizens Bank in exchange for First Citizens Corporation com- - mon stock. The announcement was made by Lewis R. Holding, chairman of First Citizens corporation, and F.P. Bodenheimer Jr., presi- dent of WhiteStock Corp., following favorable action by both corporations’ boards. Both First Citizens corporation and WhiteStock Corp. are. head- quartered in Raleigh, N.C. Implementation of the propos- ed action is subject to approval by state and federal regulatory agencies, the shareholders of both corporations and the satisfaction of other conditions specified in the agreement. A special shareholder meeting for each corporation will be held this fall. Under the proposed transac- tion, WhiteStock Corp. would be liquidated and its subsidiary, Stockton, White & Company ‘would become a wholly owned . subsidiary of First = Citizens Bank. Stockton, White & Com- ‘pany will continue to conduct its ‘mortgage banking, insurance and real estate investment opera- tions at its offices in Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte, N.C., and Charleston, S.C. Under the terms of the agree- ment, shareholders of WhiteStock will receive one share of First Citizens Corpora- . tion common stock for each 14 shares of WhiteStock common.
