Bailey To Address American Legion Auxiliary Mrs. Anna J. Bailey of Salisbury, state president of the American Legion Aux- iliary, will make the rin- - cipa ‘address at Satur ay’s District 23 meeting to be hosted by Kings Mountain Unit 155 at the Post Home. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 2 p.m. Mrs. Myr- tle Christenson - of Kings Mountain, District 23 Presi- dent, will ‘preside. Mayor John Henry Moss, ANNA J. BAILEY State Senator J. Ollie Harris, and Post 155 Commander Carl Wilson will bring greetings, and reports from units in Kings Mountain, Forest City, Shelby, Spin- dale, and Rutherfordton will highlight the meeting. Miss Flora Jean Craig of Charlotte, state vice presi- dent and ‘membership chair- man, and Mrs. Frances Carver of Robbinsville, Fifth Division President, will be recognized for remarks and presentation. Mrs. Arlene Barrett, state legislative chairman and Unit 155 Americanism chair- man, will lead the pledge of allegiance and Mrs. Bennett Masters will sing “The Na- tional Anthem”. Mrs. Ruth Ruff, Unit 155 president and District 23 Vice President, will bring greetings from the hostess unit. - After the meeting, refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded, compliments of downtown merchants. New officers will be elected. All Unit members and visitors are invited to attend. KM Senior Center Volunteers Honored Senior Center volunteers now number 103, up from 75 last year, and they gave a total of 1,928 hours of volunteer service last year. Volunteer Director Monte Thornburg praised the volunteers at a breakfast hosted by the Senior Center Saturday morning. Mr. Walker assists in the office four hours a day. Visiting was Mariam Russell of Stewart Insurance Agency. | ERIC CARROLL Erie Carroll Three Years Old Eric Brandon Carroll, son of Ricky and Regina Carroll of Kings = Mountain, celebrated his third birthday Wednesday, April 3, with a birthday party at McDonald’s. Fifteen friends and relatives of Eric’s en- joyed a lunch, and cake and ice cream as refreshments. Games and prizes were also given to the children atten- ding along with hats, and dif- ferent party favors. Eric is the grandson of Frances and James Carroll, and Pat and Wayne Worcester of Kings Moun- tain, and the great-grandson of Mr. and Mrs. F.O. Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Acie F. Mace all of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Bessie Worcester of Bangor, Maine. Eric has an older brother, Ricky, Jr., age 65. REVIVAL Revival services will be held April 22-27 at the House of Prayer. Kings Mountain Senior High Band will provide the music and will also accom- pany Clarence Withrow who will open the program by singing ‘America’ and close with “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Speaker will be Lindsay Warren, Jr. of Goldsboro, state chairman. He will be in- troduced by Jack Palmer, Jr., former County Commis: sion chairman. The Project started last summer and includes prun- ing trees on the old cour- thouse grounds, cutting down old ones and opening the pret- ty structure which was almost obscured by overgrown and neglected trees. Doan Ogden of ‘Asheville, veteran landscape architect, designed the new look. It includes removing old shrubs from walkway cor- ners and scattered overgrown shrubs.
