Baseball Tourney Scheduled The Kings Mountain and Grover Dixie Youth Major League all-stars will face each other in the first round of the District Tournament Saturday at 3 p.m. at East lins, Rusty Burgess, Shane Webb, Tripp Slycord. Tony Young, Steve Reynolds. Steve Robbins, Brad Melton. Frankie Bowers, David Jenkins and Chris Moore. Kings Mountain coaches are Jerry Jenkins, Pete Burgess, Steve Goforth and Jack Bell. Members of the Grover all- star team are David Cooper, Edward Heath, Kevin Whetstine, Shane Crocker, Doug Faulkner, Josh Moore, Norris Degree, Andy Turner, Kevin Moss, Michael Newton, Tommy Payne. Reece Cochran and Stephen Black. Coaches are Larry T-Ball Tourney Scheduled There will be a T-Ball baseball tournament beginn- ing August 1 at Grover’s Harry Memorial Park. Lakers And Bulls Share Summer Boys Club Lead The Lakers and the Bulls share the lead after two weeks of action in the Kings Mountain Boys Club Summer Basketball League. Both sport 3-1 records. The Celtics and Rockets are tied for third at 2-1 and the Jazz and 76ers bring up the rear with 0-3 marks. In action on July 6, the Celtics defeated the Jazz 70-53 and the Rockets whip- ped the Lakers 58-50. Julius Pagan scored 20, Bernard Thompson 17 and Darius Ross 16 for the Celtics. Travis Bess had 21 and Anthony: Holland 12 for the Jazz. Jamie Surratt scored 22 and Greg Young 16 for the Rockets and Joe McClain and Robbie Edgerton had 15 each for the Lakers. On July 9, the Celtics edged the 76ers 59-56 and the Bulls defeated the Rockets 73-63. Bernard Thompson scored 18, John Hill 16 and Darius Ross 15 for the Celtics. Micky Melton had 20 and Gary White 16 for the 76ers. James Roberts scored 26, Shawn James 16 and Jeff Epps 15 for the Bulls. Greg Young had 21, Jamie Surratt 20 and Tracy Wright 13 for the Rockets. In action last Wednesday. the Bulls edged the 76ers 69-68 and the Lakers defeated the Jazz 63-51. Shawn James scored 27, James Roberts 18 and Tim Goode 12 for the Bulls. Gary White had 33. Mike Jenkins 14 and Micky Melton 10 for the 76ers. Joe McClain had 15, Anthony Hillman 12 and Robbie Edgerton 10 for the Lakers and Tim Addison had 20, An- thony Holland 14 and Travis Bess 13 for the Jazz. The Lakers defeated the 76ers 58-38 and the Bulls edg- ed the Celtics 54-53 in Thurs- day’s action. Joe McClain and Calvin Newsome scored 14 each for the Lakers. Mike Jenkins scored 10 and Tyronne Moore 9 for the 76ers. James Roberts had 22 and Tim Goode 15 for the Bulls and John Hill and Julius Pagan had 16 and 13, respec- tively, for the Celtics. In Saturday’s games. the Rockets defeated the Jazz 72-57 and the Lakers edged the Bulls 79-78. Jamie Surratt scored 34 and Greg Young 28 for the Rockets. Tim Addison had 19 and Tony Currence 14 for the Jazz. Joe McClain scored 31 and Antonne Holland 12 for the Lakers and Tim Goode had 29 and James Roberts 18 for the Bulls. Players of the Week were James Roberts of the Bulls and Jamie Surratt of the Rockets. Legion Tourney Scheduled American Legion Post 155 will sponsor the 14th annual Member Golf Tournament Saturday, July 27th, at Kings Mountain Country Club. Tee-off is at 8 a.m. and the 18 hole tournament will be scored on the Calloway system. Prizes will be presented to the winners. Entry fee is $30. which also includes the greens fee, cart fee, refreshments. and a dinner-dance which will follow the golf tournament that evening at the Post Building. Steak will be served with all the trimmings and a band will play for dancing. Door prizes will be presented. Registration deadline is this Saturday, July 20th, and all interested golfers should sign up at the American Legion Building. Members who want to attend the dinner-dance only can obtain tickets at $20 per couple and deadline for puchase of dinner-dance tickets is also Saturday. p.m. at the school gym.
