Kings Mountain High's wrestlers took Asheville High down to the wire before losing 80-37 Thursday night at Asheville in the Mountaineers’ first dual meet of the season. Asheville, which hasn’t lost a dual meet in over two years, took advantage of a forfeit and a default to turn back the deter mined Mountles. The Mountaineers won six matches, including three on pins and three on decisions. was unable to make the trip. The Mountaineers, who were— scheduled to open Southwestern V S-A Conference competition last night at North Gaston, travel to South Point Thursday. Coach Phil Weathers’ team, which has never lost a con ference match, hosts East McDoweU Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Central Gym. Roger McClain, Danny ChldweU, Mike Smith, Jimmy Wadklns, David Bradley, Tommy Welch and David Parker aU won on pins for the Patriots. "The match was much tougher than we expected," said Weathers, "but overaU I thought we had a pretty good match. Our inexperience hurt in certain places and nervousness kept us from wrestling up to par. "West McDowell has im proved tremendously since last year and they will surprise a few teams." In preliminary matches, David Parker, Rocky laits and Jeff Stokes of the Patriots lost on decisions and John Faughnan won by pin.
