Candy Hoyle receives Most Dedicated Band Member Award from Band Director Joe Sizemore. Joanette Best receives outstanding choir member. I 'W. k 01 I i C. t ^n Clark received Life Membership to Band Boosters. Mr. ark was instrumental in writing the By Laws for the Band Booster Organization. A fitting climax to eight years of service by Band Director, Joe Sizemore, was the Awards Banquet held in the West Craven High School cafeteria. Band members, friends, Band Booster members, and parents were on hand to witness the presenta tions. Those receiving recognition are listed below. Over 40 letters and stars were presented. Most Improved: Male Choir - Erik White; Female Choir - Fay Jarman; LAB Band - Robert Shuman; Flag - Denise Eubanks; Rifle - Shelia Hardy; Marching- Jerome Chadwick; Concert - Cathy Manning; Jazz - Clay McOmber. Honor Guard Award:: Amy Stilley, Diana Had dock, Tina Stilley, Stacey Weatherington, Cindy Wal ker, April Gaskins. Outstanding Awards: Choir Male - Mark Dixon; Female - Joannete Best; Band - Paul Brown and Andre Dawson; Flag - Laura Barlow; Rifle - Tammy Thompson; Marching - Frank Grady; Concert - Steven Purifoy; Jazz - Kevin Wether ington. Majorette Award: Candy Hoyle and Candy Walker. Drum Major Award: Patricia Haddock and Joe Burney. Choir Director’s Award - Rosa Worthington Band Director’s Award - Mike Weatherington. Choir Member of the Year - Mark Dixon and Rosa Worthington Band Man of the Year - Robert Hooks. Band Woman of the Year - Patricia Haddock. Most Dedicated - Candy Hoyle. Louis Armstrong Award - Steve Purifoy. John Phillip Sousa Award- Steve Purifoy and Patricia Haddock. The John Phillip Sousa Award is usually presented to only one student each year, but director was granted a one- year exception to recognize two students since their dedication and participation ranked so high. Ward Receives BA Mrs. Herbert Beaman of Jasper attended graduation ceremonies at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. Her granddaughter, Sybil Anne Ward of ^cky Mount, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Patricia Haddock is presented the Band Woman of the Year by Principal. Robert Shuman receives Most Outstanding LAB Band Award. Steve Purifoy and Patricia Haddock with John Phillips Sousa Award. mamas
