Extension Homemakers Purchase Mannikin For CPR Instruction As pari of their community service program Bruns wick County's Extension Homcmakcrs have purchased a Resusci Anne mannikin to be used in (cardiopul monary resuscitation) CPR instruction. Home Economics Extension Agent Mary L. Russ said the mannikin will be available at a small nominal charge to qualified volunteer instructors only who have current certification with the American Heart As sociation or the American Red Cross, and who arc will ing to follow the rules for use provided by the Bruns wick County Extension Homcmakcrs. The mannikin has already been put to use. Extension Homcmaker volunteers Jean and Alex Mcarns, who arc also certified volunteer CPR instructors, used the new Resusci Anne in a class they taught recently, saying it worked quite well. As the new Rcsusci Anne is very different from those currently available in Brunswick County, a class for potential instructor-users will be arranged to famil iarize them with maintenance and cleaning of the man nikin. Also, CPR classes arc expected to be held on a regu lar basis, starting in September, at the Cooperative Ex tension office, which is located in the Agriculture Building at the Brunswick County Government Center at Bolivia. Instructors interested in an orientation class on the new mannikin, or persons interested in taking a CPR class should call the Brunswick County Cooperative Extension office at 253-4425 for more information.
