w SECTION C Young Church Growing The Anglican Orthodox Church, organized in No vember, 1963, has spread throughout the world in four years, says its presid ing bishop, Rev. James Parker Dees, whose head quarters are 315 East Front Street, Statesville, and who celebrates the fourth anni versary of his consecration to the Episcopate on March 15. by your Vepco Home Economist Company coming to dinner? You’ll want to impress them. But think twice before serving rib roast or filet mignon. Con sider a less tender choice, economical and just as impressive —our LONDON BROIL. u-,.... For six, you need a 3-pound round steak, 1 to IVi tnicK. Sprinkle both sides with meat tenderizer (do not salt). Pierce all surfaces at one-inch intervals with a fork, cover and re frigerate overnight. Then broil. For a rare steak place on rack in broiler pan 3' to 4 ' from source of heat. Broil for about 10 minutes, turn and broil for about 8 minutes. For medium doneness, place broiler pan 5 ’ to 6 ' from source of heat. Broil for about 12 minutes, turn and broil about 10 minutes. While steak broils prepare the following sauce. In a sauce pan combine M cup beef bouillon, 1 cup dry white wine, one 4-ounce stick of butter, 3 tbsp. lemon juice and V£ tsp. ground pepper. (If you wish to omit the wine, substitute 1 cup bouil lon and increase the lemon juice to 6 tbsp.) Bring to boil and simmer. Cook until butter is melted. Just before serving add y. cup minced parsley and l A cup chopped chives. Now your steak is ready to carve. Cut steak in diagonal slices at about a 30° angle. Serve steak on a warm platter and sauce in a gravy boat. Serve together. The cost of this creative, thrifty dish will be anywhere from $3 to $4, depending on what you pay for round steak. And the cost of electricity is less than 3c. Quite a bargain, electricity. Even better than round steak. MORE PROFITS FOR YOU ; COUNT jgcet ' YOUR ALWAYS USE J HIKINGS ! Von THE nwuAUk V “ ,w,wn * THE CHOWAN HERALD Organized by former Episcopalians who were concerned about the pre servation of their Anglican traditions and Biblical Christianity, the denomin ation now has congrega tions extending from Mi ami, Fla., to Buffalo, N. Y. to Seattle, Wash., to San Diego, Cal., with members throughout the United States, Canada and many foreign countries. According to Bishop Dees, the church is basical ly committed to proclaim ing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with its aim the salvation of souls and growth in the Holy Spirit. Bishop Dees says that he ‘“decries” the use of the established churches for the spread of what he consid ers to be “unchristian” so cial, economic and political concerns. "The concern of the church,” he says, “is to bring souls to Christ and to worship Him, their Saviour and Redeemer, in the spirit of the Holy Ghost, the Sanctifier.” Any thing that detracts from this goal, he thinks, is “of the Devil” Bishop Dees refers to the | Anglican Orthodox Church as being the “real” Episco- I pal Church because it uses ] the Book of Common Pray • er and believes the funda- I mental teachings of the Bible, as did the reformers ' of the Church of England.
